Welcome to The ERP Update

Written by William Murphy | May 6, 2026 1:00:01 PM

Welcome, welcome to The ERP Update. For the past several months Insightful Accountant, along with Amiee Keenan and the ISV Society, has been busy working toward this day, the launch of a new banner focused on the ‘ERP’ space.

“Insightful Accountant” is excited to be working with Amiee Keenan and The ISV Society on the launch of TheERPUpdate.com,said Gary DeHart, Publisher of Insightful Accountant. “We have covered the ERP market "lightly" since we launched in 2013. This new launch allows us to broaden our coverage of the ERP space on a site that is dedicated to the mid-to-large size market. We've seen an increased interest in the ERP space from our subscribers as well as a growing number of our core advertisers/sponsors becoming more involved in the ERP space, so it is a natural fit for us to expand our coverage and to dedicate more resources to the overall ERP marketplace”.

While we may be starting out slowly, as we did with Insightful Accountant way back when, our intention is to grow our ERP coverage to include any ERPs appropriate to the SMB space with a few that focus on larger ‘enterprise’ class businesses.

“I’m really excited about The ERP Update because it brings everything I love about this community into one place—collaboration, shared insights, and continuous learning across the ecosystem,” said Amiee Keenan of the ISV Society. "I created The ISV Society to bring the ERP ecosystem together. The ERP Update builds on that—giving it a bigger platform, more visibility, and a way to stay informed across it all."

Our ERP Line-up

We will begin The ERP Update with coverage surrounding the following ERPs:

  • Acumatica is cloud-based ERP software for small and mid-market businesses, with AI-enabled tools for finance, manufacturing, distribution, construction, and CRM. It’s known for an easy-to-use interface, unlimited user licensing, and a flexible modern platform.
  • Intuit Enterprise Suite (IES) is an AI-native, cloud-based ERP and business management platform for growing mid-market companies (\$5M+ revenue). It extends QuickBooks Online Advanced with multi-entity management, consolidated reporting, and AI-driven insights.
  • Oracle NetSuite is a cloud ERP platform for companies from startups to enterprises. It combines finance, CRM, HR, inventory, and e-commerce in a single database to support real-time reporting and remote access.
  • Sage Intacct is cloud-based ERP/accounting software for mid-sized organizations and is recognized by the AICPA. It supports automation for GL, AP, and AR, plus multi-entity management and real-time reporting as a scalable finance system of record.

Soon to be added to our ERP line-up is:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365, a modular, scalable, AI-powered cloud ERP for finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and commerce. It uses Copilot to boost productivity and offers editions for small-to-mid-sized businesses and large enterprises.
  • Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP is a cloud ERP suite with AI-enabled capabilities for finance, procurement, projects, and supply chain. It offers real-time analytics, continuous updates, and automation to improve efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Sage X3 is an ERP for mid-to-large businesses, especially in manufacturing, distribution, and services. It manages finance, supply chain, inventory, and production end to end, and is available as Sage ERP X3 (on-premises) or Sage Business Cloud X3 (cloud).

We will add, whenever possible, to our coverage as content becomes available or you, our readers, request additional ERP solutions.

Coverage You Can Expect

While there will be a variety of content, a major focus with respect to the ERPs we cover will be in three areas:

  • “ERP Solutions” - how a specific ERP provides a solution for a specific type of end-user, including solving an end-user’s requirements or problems. You will see case studies regarding specific business types and industries within this content type.
  • “How to ERP” – providing an explanation as well as step-by-step functionality for a specific feature within an ERP.
  • “ERP for Advisors” – covering topics specific to Accountants, Advisors and Consultants who deal with ERP customers (or potential customers) to prepare you in your role of meeting the needs of those customers.

ERP Developers and co-developers who contribute will be submitting content that’s specific to their products. But we believe, if you are researching or working with ERPs, that you will want as much information as you can garner from as many resources as are available, and we want to be your primary resource to find what you are looking for about ERPs. That's why we will include Events, Webinars and Resources to make 'ERP life' easier for users, businesses, developers, and partners.

You will find numerous features already residing in The ERP Update, some are past articles for which Insightful Accountant’s readership showed significant interest, other are new articles that we’ve already prepared to kick off this project. Still the same, we are calling May 6, 2026, our ‘soft launch’, and we will be hosting contributed content next Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

“I’m thrilled about expanding into a new arena, one with exciting new products, growing and maturing, and bringing a wealth of innovation. At the same time, these mature Developers know and understand their customers, actively engage with their product users, and respond intently to the feedback those users provide. That results in a tremendous opportunity to report for our readership about what really is going on within the ERP community.” (Murph)

So, I say again, welcome. We are excited to be starting this new venture for you, our readers, and do not hesitate to post comments in the 'Join the Conversation' section of this (or any) feature to let us know what you think, or would like to see covered.

Respectfully,

William “Murph” Murphy
